As Salaam Alaykum wa Rahmatullahi wa Barakatuhu,

I cannot verify if Abdullah bin Abbas (Radhiallaahu Anhu) actually said these words. However, even if he did not, the truth of the words appears to be obvious.

Abdullah bin Abbas said:

“You who commit a sin, do not feel secure about the results, for what goes along with the sin is more serious than the sin itself.

Your lack of shame before the angels, who witness you when you commit the sin, is more serious than the sin itself.

Your laughter when you sin, as you forget the punishment of Allah is more serious than the sin itself.

Your delight if you get a chance to sin, is more serious than the sin itself.

Even your disappointment, if you miss a chance to sin is more serious than the sin itself.”

Peace be upon those who follow righteous guidance,

I can almost hear you shouting, ‘NO!’.

God does not have an equal. He is the Originator of the heavens and earth. He created the universe from nothing by issuing a simple command, ‘Be’. He had no template from which to work or outside help of any kind. This creation, including us, is entirely His. This God of ours, the One and Only Lord of all, is so Great, High, Perfect, Mighty, Wise, Merciful and Unique that He alone deserves our devotion and our worship.

The Majesty of our Lord necessitates that His guidance possesses these same qualities. It would be unthinkable to suggest that God, who has created with perfection, could falter when it came to His religion. Meaning, for a religion to be God’s true religion, it must possess the qualities of God. Moreover, it cannot detract from the Dignity of God.

He is the Originator of the heavens and the earth. How can He have children when He has no wife? He created all things and He is the All-Knower of everything. [Quran 6:101]

If God has no equal, how can He have a wife? If He has no wife, how can He have a child? A wife is an equal and compatible companion for her husband. Without her, man cannot be successful at reproducing. Then, by which method could God have a child? Did He have this child outside of marriage? If the child was created by the command of God, then the child is no different or any more special than the rest of creation.

The similitude of Jesus before Allah is as that of Adam; He created him from dust, then said to him: “Be”. And he was. [Quran 3:59]

Think and remember the Dignity of God.

O ye who believe! stand out firmly for Allah, as witnesses to fair dealing, and let not the hatred of others to you make you swerve to wrong and depart from justice. Be just: that is next to piety: and fear Allah. For Allah is well-acquainted with all that ye do. [Quran 5:8]

There is no god but Allah, the Mighty, the Forbearing, there is no god but Allah, the Lord of the mighty throne, there is no god but Allah, the Lord of the heavens and the earth, and the Lord of the throne of honor.

O the Living, O the Eternal, I seek help in Your grace.

All praise and thanks are due to Allah. He, alone, deserves to be worshipped. He, alone, deserves to be feared. May the peace and blessing of the Almighty be upon our master, the slave and messenger of Allah, Muhammad ibn Abdullah salallahu alayhi wa sallam.

Allah says in His Quran [3:118],

O you who believe! Take not as (your) Bitanah (advisors, helpers) those other than your own, since they will not fail to do their best to corrupt you. They desire to harm you severely. Hatred has already appeared from their mouths, but what their breasts conceal is far worse. Indeed We have made plain to you the Ayat if you understand.

Ibn Abi Hatim recorded that a man came to Abdullah bin Masud and said to him, “Advise me.” He said, “When you hear Allah’s statement, [يَـأَيُّهَا الَّذِينَ ءَامَنُواْ] (O you who believe!) then pay full attention, for it is a righteous matter that He is ordaining or an evil thing that He is forbidding.”.

The recent outpouring of hatred from the Judeo-Christian world towards Allah, His prophet, His Book, the masajid, and the believers does not surprise Muslim readers of the Quran. They desired to harm us by drawing pictures of our noble prophet, salallahu alayhi wa sallam. When Muslims responded with anger, the disbelievers gloated. They drew more pictures and they laboured to make sure we were aware of them. That carried on until we reached the point where a new caricature gets little more attention than a lone Muslim posting links on Facebook or Twitter to the offending picture. They also attacked our Shariah, without understanding what it is. They attempted to redefine as a barbaric law, which seeks their overthrow, subjugation and death. They lament, and will always lament, our unwillingness to abandon it. More recently, it has become fashionable to burn the Book of Allah. A quick search will uncover a dozen or so despicable YouTube videos of uncouth bigots expressing their hatred for us and our deen. That is to say nothing of the racism directed towards us and the foul words they utter towards their Lord.

Allah says in His Quran [8:30],

They plot and plan, and Allah too plans; but the best of planners is Allah.

Their hatred and scheming has backfired again and again. In fact, those haters of Islam that threatened to burn the Quran have done what the callers hope to do. They brought the Quran to the attention of the world’s media. Non-Muslims were voicing their support for the Quran and encouraging each other to read its message. I have no doubt that in the months and years to come, we will read the reversion stories of new Muslims that owe their initial interest in the Quran to the rants of Terry Jones. Such is the power of the Quranic message to change the hearts of mankind.

One regrettable aspect of the hoo-ha of the Quran burning fiasco is that real news, important news was overlooked. Did you know that American soldiers were hunting Afghan civilians for sport (Source)? Did you know that our sister Aafia Siddiqui after seven years of torture and false imprisonment is due to be charged on the 23rd of September for crimes she did not commit? How did we get duped into thinking that ink and paper are more important than life and blood? If you were angry about the Quran being burnt then you should be even more angry about the slaughter of innocents.

Ya Allah, ar-Rahman, al-Wali, reward the believers for the trials you place upon them and shield them on the Day when they need it most.

As Salaam Alaykum wa Rahmatullahi wa Barakatuhu,

All praise belongs to Allah, Who began by praising Himself before any praiser could praise Him. May the peace and blessings of our Mighty Lord be upon His slave and messenger Muhammad, salallahu alayhi wa sallam, and all those who follow him until the Day of Reckoning.

I testify to the fact that there is nothing in the heavens above or in the earth below that deserves worship except Allah, The One, The Only. And I testify to the fact that Muhammad ibn Abdullah is His slave and messenger.

Allah says in His Quran (48:4):
He it is Who sent down As-Sakinah (calmness and tranquillity) into the hearts of the believers, that they may grow more in Faith along with their (present) Faith. And to Allah belong the hosts of the heavens and the earth, and Allah is Ever All-Knower, All …

A few times in my life, I have experienced something that I can only refer to as Allah’s Approval, His Grace. The first time I felt it was on my way to church when I decided that I would become a Muslim. After that I have only felt it while in salaah, but not every salaah. I love that feeling. It is a feeling of contentment, of joy. It is as if your floating and your heart skips a beat. It is the nervous excitement of meeting your beloved for the first time or after a long separation.

Allah says in His Quran (3:8):
Our Lord! make not our hearts to deviate after Thou hast guided us aright, and grant us from Thee mercy; surely Thou art the most liberal Giver.

Oh Allah, forgive my shortcomings, keep me firm on Your Deen and let me die while You are pleased with me.

As Salaam Alaykum wa Rahmatullahi wa Barakatuhu,

Allah says in His Quran,

O you who believe! Fasting is prescribed for you as it was prescribed for those before you, that you may acquire Taqwa. [Quran 2:183]

In this beautiful ayah, Allah ta’ala gives the wisdom behind legislating the fast. When you abstain from food, drink, sex, and sins for His sake alone, it purifies the soul, removes evil, corrects ill manners and it narrows the paths that shaytan can use against you. Thus fasting is a shield protecting us from the fire of Hell.

As Salaam Alaykum wa Rahmatullahi wa Barakatuhu,

All prise and thanks belongs to Allah alone. We praise Him and thank Him. We seek His forgiveness and His assistance in all matters. I bear witness that there is no god but Allah. He is alone without any partners or coequals. I bear witness that Muhammad ibn Abdullah is His slave and messenger. May Allah’s peace and blessings be upon him, his family, his companions and every pious righteous Muslim until the Day of Resurrection.

Congratulations to us all, the blessed month of Ramadan has reached us while we still have some life in our bodies and some energy to worship our Lord. What a gift is this Ramadan! Ar-Rahman is making it so easy for us to attain His forgiveness, if you but stretch out your hand it will be yours.

Allah says in His Quran,

Ramadhan is the (month) in which was sent down the Qur’an, as a guide to mankind, also clear (Signs) for guidance and judgment (Between right and wrong). So every one of you who is present (at his home) during that month should spend it in fasting, but if any one is ill, or on a journey, the prescribed period (Should be made up) by days later. Allah intends every facility for you; He does not want to put to difficulties. (He wants you) to complete the prescribed period, and to glorify Him in that He has guided you; and perchance ye shall be grateful. [Quran 2:185]

My Lord, make me among the grateful, forgive me and pardon me. Indeed, You are Tawwabur, Rahim.

As Salaam Alaykum wa Rahmatullahi wa Barakatuhu,

Allah says in His Quran,

Allah is the Creator of all things, and He is the Guardian and Disposer of all affairs. [39:62]

and,

That is Allah, your Lord! there is no god but He, the Creator of all things: then worship ye Him: and He hath power to dispose of all affairs. [6:102]

and,

Such is Allah, your Lord, the Creator of all things, there is no god but He: Then how ye are deluded away from the Truth! [40:62]

and,

Say: “Who is the Lord and Sustainer of the heavens and the earth?” Say: “(It is) Allah.” Say: “Do ye then take (for worship) protectors other than Him, such as have no power either for good or for harm to themselves?” Say: “Are the blind equal with those who see? Or the depths of darkness equal with light?” Or do they assign to Allah partners who have created (anything) as He has created, so that the creation seemed to them similar? Say: “Allah is the Creator of all things: He is the One, the Supreme and Irresistible.” [13:16]

and,

Praise be to Allah, Who created (out of nothing) the heavens and the earth, Who made the angels, messengers with wings,- two, or three, or four (pairs): He adds to Creation as He pleases: for Allah has power over all things. [35:1]

and,

He is Allah, the Creator, the Evolver, the Bestower of Forms (or Colours). To Him belong the Most Beautiful Names: whatever is in the heavens and on earth, doth declare His Praises and Glory: and He is the Exalted in Might, the Wise. [59:24]

I believe in Allah and I believe in His ability to create. To the militant evangelic atheist this makes me a fool, an enemy of science, logic and rational thought. He asserts his belief in the non-existence of His Lord with his unshakeable faith in evolution. To him, it defeats Allah because in his estimation it removes the need for an intelligent creator. He laments the Muslim’s reluctance to jump on the evolution bandwagon.

Since he is so convinced and since his challenge is so serious, we must answer the question, Does evolution defeat Allah?

Of course, the answer is, no evolution does not defeat Allah. How can it? Evolution doesn’t conflict with creation. Before something can evolve into something else it must already exist. How did the first living cell find itself in a position to be evolved from? Even if we say that some random chemical reaction miraculously created that first cell, how did those chemical reactions get into a place to randomly create a cell? Then how did the thing that allowed the chemical reaction come about? Keep going back. Everything in our universe has to have an origin and must have been created from something. Keep going back until you find the thing which has no creator and then you would have found the Creator.

Even if evolution is a cold hard fact as the evolutionist would have us believe, it poses no problem for Muslims, who believe Allah is the Creator. It is no more a serious challenge to Allah than gravity. We believe that no leaf falls to the earth without Allah’s command and yet we know that gravity pulls objects towards the earth. That may seem problematic for some until they realise that gravity itself is the creation of Allah. If evolution exists it is nothing more than a creation of Allah.

Evolutionists make the mistake of over estimating the importance or significance of evolution. Now let someone find that magic machine that creates matter from nothing. That would be interesting.
