As Salaam Alaykum wa Rahmatullahi wa Barakatuhu,
Islam is Truth. We are convinced of its truthfulness, spiritually and intellectually. Yet some time ago, we lost the confidence to speak the Truth and call towards it.
Why am I like a mouse when calling to Allah and my six year old daughter is like a lion?
You should worship Allah.
The only true One.
The only One who created the universe.
You should do what Muhammad did.
Worship Allah.
We should only worship Allah.
He is the truely One.
We can all pray to Him.
Allah knows everything.
We are all Muslims.Sabah Hashim, Ramadan 1432.
As Salaam Alaykum wa Rahmatullahi wa Barakatuhu,
Last week Sabah had her first sports day at school. We all had so much fun and Sabah did very well, mashaAllah, when she wasn’t lazing about or searching for flowers. Sabah was also being a great big sister. At one point Dhuha decided to sit down on Sabah’s lap, Sabah patiently sat there hugging Dhuha. I told Sabah that if she wanted it would be alright to go and play with her friends. Sabah responded, ‘I want to play with Dhuha and my friends’. I love my girls.
As Salaam Alaykum wa Rahmatullahi wa Barakatuhu,
Tonight my wife fried some samoosas for dinner, which sort of felt like one of the first nights of Ramadaan. As we sat around the table eating those wonderful triangular golden mince filled treats, Sabah asked me, ‘Daddy do you like these Musas?’ MashaAllah, how sweet is that! Zahira said to Sabah, ‘say SAmoosa’. Sabah copied, ‘MUsa’.
As Salaam Alaykum wa Rahmatullahi wa Barakatuhu,
Yesterday at school, Sabah must have been thinking about Dhuha. So she coloured a picture and told her teacher that she wanted to give it to Dhuha, who is in another class. With permission, Sabah when to Dhuha’s class and gave her the picture you see. Dhuha was thrilled, Masha’Allah.
Sabah really loves Dhuha. That makes me feel proud to have such wonderful little girls. Plus, she has better crayon control at five than I do at 28 and 11 months. Alhamdulillah.
As Salaam Alaykum wa Rahmatullahi wa Barakatuhu,
Alhamdulillah, my Sabah turned five this month. We don’t do birthdays so the actual day came and went as normal but I did spend a few minutes thinking about her and the past five years. It has been fantastic getting to know her. She is artistic and creative. She can be very cheeky or very shy. She loves positive comments and dreads the idea that someone might think her as naughty. She is also very feminine. She loves to wear dresses and anything pink. She loves animals and I have seen a number of duaas from her mouth answered. She is pure and sweet and she loves her grandparents. She doesn’t like spicy food and speaks with an accent that is neither like mine or her mother’s. She loves school and is very protective of her sister. She loves Allah, Islam and the Muslims. I am sure that Allah ta’ala loves her.
O Allah make her one of the women of paradise and among the people that you are well pleased.
As Salaam Alaykum wa Rahmatullahi wa Barakatuhu,
Yesterday my daughter really surprised me by spending more than seven hours playing games on the computer!
I have been encouraging her to play on the computer since she was very small because I feel that being comfortable using computers is important and it was something I missed out on. I must have been between 12 and 14 when my father bought a home PC and before that I hadn’t really used one. When Sabah was two years old, I would let her type big colourful letters on Word or OpenOffice and last year she was up to clicking objects to start a video on YouTube. Now she is able to play games and even navigate between various games, without any help from me or her mother.
Yesterday, all of us were feeling ill and took the opportunity to rest, which meant that I wasn’t working on the computer. Sabah took full advantage. Every half hour, I checked to see if she was ok but she would shout at me saying that it was her turn and that I should leave. As the hours ticked away, in amazement I would note how many hours she had been playing for and ensuring her mother that I wouldn’t allow her to spend so much time online again.
I still can’t believe that a four year old stayed on for seven hours…
