Dhuha’s Diagnosis Meeting is Today

Autism, Family 27 Apr 2009

As Salaam Alaykum wa Rahmatullahi wa Barakatuhu,

Today we have to go to a diagnosis meeting with all the people who have worked with Dhuha over the last year. We are hoping that the paediatrician makes the diagnosis that Dhuha is autistic. Not that I want her to be autistic but with the diagnosis she will be able to attend specialist schools and receive extra care that she needs and deserves.

Yesterday, we had to answer questions about Dhuha’s development and even describe, in as much detail as possible, why we think she is autistic. It was hard for me to do that but I think it was even harder for my wife. Normally, we focus on the positive side of things. Dhuha is a lovely affectionate little girl, she hugs, kisses and smiles frequently. I also see noticeable improvements in her social interactions and she has even begun to use a few words. However, those questions and this meeting are focused on the negative and that is quite difficult to deal with. Its no wonder I woke up this morning feeling ill.

Please make du’aa for her.
